Of all the wonderful courses you can train on the RunBetter App, a true gem is the Mad Marathon. The Mad Marathon takes place in beautiful Waitsfield, Vermont on July 9, 2023.
This year marks the 12th running of the Mad Marathon and with new events added for 2023, it’s going to be the biggest year yet!
We caught up with race director Dori Ingalls for a quick chat about this special race and why you should add it to your running bucket list…
RUNBETTER APP: What makes the Mad Marathon unique?
DORI: The Mad Marathon and Mad Half courses have been designed to enhance the rural and unique setting of the Mad River Valley, along with highlighting the exceptional Vermont farmlands. Winding through 26.2 miles of brilliant landscapes with panoramic views of the Green Mountains, the runners are mesmerized by their surroundings and fascinated by the working homesteads, vast acres of summer corn, barnyard animals, curious cows, and majestic horses. The community will be hosting the aid stations with promises to entertain the athletes as they race to the finish line to be greeted by world famous announcer Peter Graves.
RUNBETTER APP: Is there anything new this year?
DORI: We have added a 5K and 10K on the same course.
RUNBETTER APP: What is the post-race celebration like?
DORI: The post-race is a large selection of food highlighted with Cold Hollow cider and donuts! Cold Hollow Cider Mill is the second most visited tourist attraction in the area, behind Ben & Jerry’s.
RUNBETTER APP: Are spots still open to register?
DORI: YES! Registration is open. Click here to register.
RUNBETTER APP: What is typical race-day weather?
DORI: High of 77 degrees, low of 57 degrees at the race’s start. These are averages and considering climate change, it could be a mystery, but last year it was 55 degrees at the start with a high of 76 degrees.
Of course, training for the Mad Marathon is easy with the RunBetter App. The app provides efficient, effective, course-specific training designed to get you mentally and physically prepared for race day. All you need is the RunBetter App and any treadmill.
